Easter is the greatest and the most important feast in the Christian Church. It marks the birthday of our eternal hope.
Easter recalls the resurrection of our Saviour and his promise that where he has gone we too will follow. We celebrate it with faith and jubilation.
This year we may feel very far from jubilant because of the suffering caused by the Covid pandemic. But Easter reminds us that the Via Dolorosa ultimately leads to new hope and new life. Death and suffering can never have the last word because the last word belongs to he who is the alpha and the omega, the source of our hope, our joy and our salvation.
