Irish Language Week Celebration

An Ghaeltacht-sur-Seine is the Irish language club founded five years ago to practice and promote the Irish language here in Paris.

They have organised a week of diverse activities to celebrate the practical everyday use of the language. Whether you are fluent, learned Irish many years ago at school or would like to try it for the first time come and experience one (or many) Irish events between Wednesday, November 5 and Sunday, November 9.

Wednesday, November 5 at 20:00

The programme begins with an evening of film and poetry in the Salle de Conférences at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, 5 rue des Irlandais, 75005 Paris.

Eithne O’Neill and Derry O’Sullivan will be there introduce the evening. You are welcome join the Irish refreshments of salmon, cheese and wine.

Thursday, November 6 at 19:30

Experience Irish dancing with a ceili organised with the Paris Gaels GAA to be held from 19:30 in O’Sullivans by the Mill/Backstage at 92, boulevard de Clichy, 75018 Paris.

Friday, November 7 at 20:00

An Irish quiz will be held in the Salon de Résidents at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, 5, rue des Irlandais, 75005 Paris. You can come as a team or by yourself. Teams will be formed to take part in the fun at 10 euros per team. There are prizes and wine to be won.

Sunday, November 9 at 11:30

Mass will be celebrated in Irish at 11:30 in the Chapelle Saint Patrick, 5 rue des Irlandais, 75005 Paris.

Following Mass young people will have the opportunity to learn Irish sports and discover Irish dancing at the Centre Culturel Irlandais. If your child would like to take part let the organisers know in advance by sending an email to cngparas@hotmail.fr
