I hope that all is well. 2012 is moving towards an end and there are a number of items that I would like to highlight as we move towards Advent and Christmas.
As you all know now, our Advent Carol Service will take place on Sunday 9 December at 17h00. Mass on that day will be at 15h00. Everyone is welcome! We will be joined by the Choir of Wesley College, Dublin who will visit Paris for that week-end and we are delighted that they can be present with us on that day.
On a practical level, we need some volunteers, particularly to help with the preparations, the serving of the refreshments and the tidy-up. Some people will be present for the preparation from midday, and the tidy-up will take about an hour after the refreshments are over. If there are any volunteers, please get in contact so that we can co-ordinate this as soon as possible.
Sr Noreen and the Good Shepherd Sisters from Angers will be present to sell some of the crafts from their self-help projects in Thailand and many other countries. These are excellent gifts and they help people to earn a dignified living in very difficult circumstances. If you are looking for some good value Christmas gifts, while also helping to promote justice and dignity, this is a great opportunity.
Our AGM will take place briefly during coffee after Mass on Sunday 16 December. I will present a short report on the activities of the chaplaincy in the past year, Kathleen will offer a preliminary financial report and there will be the presentation of the different “responsables” for liturgy, music, finance, hospitality, communications and pastoral reach-out to the sick. This will be a very short meeting, but it will offer people an opportunity to see who is responsible for different aspects of our ministry and what we do in this city.
On 16 March 2012 at 12h00, our St Patrick’s pilgrimage Mass in Notre Dame will take place. At present we have seventy pilgrims booked to come from Ireland to join us on that day. It will be an extremely important occasion. Liam Lawton, well known in the music scene in Ireland, will sing along with the Kildare and Leighlin Diocesan Choir on that day. Please note this in your diaries and try to publicize this important occasion!!
Over the Christmas period, there will be Mass as usual each Sunday at 11h30. On Christmas Day also, there will be Mass at 11h30 also. If you are in Paris over Christmas, please feel welcome and bring any friends/relatives who may be visiting!
Please remember that all our news is also available on our new website:
Best wishes for a blessed Advent and Christmas!
